The College of Computing Sciences is NJIT's newest college, as it was established on July 1, 2001. CCS symbolizes NJIT's desire to make computing a centerpiece of its educational activities in the 21st century. Its mission is to bring education in a broad range of computing disciplines to students on campus and at a distance, to carry out cutting-edge computing research , and to work closely with industry.

The popularity of NJIT’s computing sciences programs has resulted in the size of the CCS faculty and instructional staff growing to nearly 60 members. Yet, class sizes remain small, averaging under 20 students.

As the first college of its kind in New Jersey, the College of Computing Sciences builds on three decades of computing education and research at NJIT. Students have access to more than 1,000 on-campus computers ranging from current model PCs to high-end graphics workstations.
