melete: thanks! I am using my 100mm macro and trying to get a white background with soft or no shadows to get this acceptable for iStockphoto. Getting closer.

We have two primary cherries here: Bings and Rainiers (which is a giant mountain here in WA). I love the Rainiers but Royal Anns, which closely resemble Rainiers but are smaller and little bit more tart, are my faves... Common in Oregon but you hardly ever see them here. I guess I was just hoping. :-)

I tend to not like tart so I am fine with these, not really tart at all and not too sweet. Very juicy.

The Rainier cherry was introduced in 1960 as a cross between Van & Bing, this relatively new cherry variety, originated in Prosser, WA at the Washington Agriculture Experiment Station by Harold W. Fogel. Super-sweet, plump, juicy with a taste second to none.
Delicate, intense sweet with sugar levels from 17° to 23° Brix.
Oh, and a nice image of cherries grown right were I live. ;-)
