Crushing Days..

Yesterday at the old retired salvage yard, crushing began... even this car has been marked for demolition.
Seen above was one of the piles the hired crushers left at the end of yesterday's work, you will also see this car, and here's the tail end, she's firmly planted in the middle of the above photo.
This is a quiet bunch working through this landscape of cars, only a few creaks and groans and a slight engine tick.. cars that have been slowly devoured by nature over the years.. new beginnings.. these are the last of their kind.. no plans for replacements, the word retirement has been uttered clearly one last time.
See a bit more of the line-up in below comment.
How Oliver is coming along since his Glaucoma eye surgery..
See visual update, here.
Today he was his first day to eat a full filling of dry kibble after he ate a platter of baby food. Late last night he jump to our great room half wall waving his tail and mewing for attention. He's a bit more like himself each day. Oliver is scheduled to have his sutures removed on Tuesday (August 19) under anesthesia, hopefully everything will run smoothly, he does have a sensitivity to anesthesia, so I am a bit concerned for his well being..
Thanks for checking in on Oliver everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Much Love,
Cat =^..^=

Poetry In A Blur..

I hesitated upon posting this snapshot, I'm not at all proud of this one.. anyways..
A shot I quickly snapped of one of the little hummers we have in my garden. This particular one was quite curious of my camera and came near inches from my lens.. but, alas, it was too quick, this was the only halfway decent shot I got from the entire episode.. and it's not even a grand snapshot (note, I also took this later evening), though, at least a token to have to remember this beauty by. I also posted this for the Poetry in Motion thread in IbyB.
Oliver aka Mr. Fluffy today..
Visual update seen here.
He was head nudging me earlier today, we always have greeted each other since he was a little kit by head to head nudgies. Today, he began purring excitedly and put his head down and anticipated a head bop. I put my head down for him to smack, and was surprised how hard he nudged. He obviously is feeling better. Last night after Charlie came home with his motorcycle and a little moth accidentally scrambled inside the warehouse, Oliver ran around pawing at the moth playfully. I don't remember seeing him play like that in years! Just like a little kit again, he must be feeling pretty good! I gave him some organic kitty nip today on a baby blanket, he rolled the blanket up around him and pawed & gobbled up the last of the kitty nip stash I offered him. He also has already consumed 2 whole jars of organic baby food earlier today, and he will get more later today, if he is willing to eat a bit more this evening. His appetite seems to have fully returned, hopefully he will gain a bit more weight before his next anesthesia appointment for his sutures to be removed this coming Tuesday, August 19th.
I wanted to thank you all once again for all the love you have sent to our dear Oliver and our little family. He's healing and I think it also has something to do with all those that have kept him in their thoughts, so I thank you! Hugs to all!
Much Love,

Vegan Bento Day!
Yesterday's bento.
See descriptions in above notes.
I decided to write out the recipe that I created today, I like making homemade salsas, especially raw salsas, and since I have certain foods that I am not permitted due to migraines, I came up with this. I used to use red onions and avocados in my fresh salsas, not since my migraine diet.
Mild Fresh Salsa (Raw & Vegan)
1 can organic black beans, drained & rinsed
1 small/medium cucumber, finely chopped
1 large red bell (or mini sweet peppers work great, I usually use them in my salsas), finely chopped
3-4 small/medium tomatoes (if you use cherry or grape tomatoes, make sure you use a large handful), finely chopped
1 handful of Spanish pitted olives, finely chopped
2 fresh apricots, skinned, pitted, and chopped
3 freshly minced garlic cloves
1/2 lime, juiced
1-2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 Tbsp flaxseed oil
1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
freshly cracked black pepper for seasoning
I make many of my own dry seasoning blends, this is a bit of what I use in one of the blends I use for my salsas: sweet chili pepper, cayenne pepper, chipotle chilis, thyme, cumin, oregano, parsley, basil, margoram, rosemary, ground mustard.
The next time I make a batch, I'll try to remember to measure, I eyeball when I cook.
I never add salt to this dish, if you choose to, remember, salt draws out water from veggies, you will have a soggy mess if you do not eat by the end of the day..
*Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
*Let it rest for 5-10 minutes, room temperature.
*Mix again, now serve, as a dip for pita chips or organic blue corn chips, use in tacos, or as a topping for sweet potatoes or polenta. Use your imagination and enjoy! ^_^
