Happy New Year 2012 To all my dear friends.

Happy New Year 2012 To all my dear friends.

Since we just escaped the fury of cyclone Thane and are into the New Year with the sun shining. My best wishes to all in my city and across the world. This in thanks giving and answer to prayer. A few cities south of us were not so fortunate

Please folks this is not my photo, just an image from google for the New year. It did seem apt!

Tiny mushrooms and a goblin!

Tiny mushrooms and a goblin!

All it takes is one thunderstorm for these tiny little white mushrooms to turn up like magic on this old tree. It happens every year and I have so many photographs of them. However, most of my efforts at making a good photo out of them did not happen.
This photo was taken in September, but I did not really find one interesting then, but after looking at them again, I was quite amused at the face of the Goblin like creature that seemed to look at me from the bark and the mushrooms seemed to hold just enough detail.
With hard disk crash and working on a net book with only Fast Stone Image viewer, it was a challenge to make something happen. I was amused and hope you will like the image too.
For the purists and botanists, I have other images which I hope to post on the page later.
If anyone knows the name of this particular mushroom, I would be happy to know. Thank you!

Hibiscus schizopetalus

Hibiscus schizopetalus

I textured the photo for a graphic effect. I trust this is acceptable.
If anyone can give me the name of the species, it would be terrific.
It is a perennial in Chennai, India.
Thank you Florette for identifying it specifically for me, Dominique said it was an African species and in that she seems right. I am sure further study will reveal its presence in india. I have seen it most of my life in my garden as my mother has always beeb a Hibiscus lover.

Jack in glorious color!

Jack in glorious color!

Jack chose different methods to dry off after he was toweled dry. Could have blow dried him, but Chennai, is warm enough without having to add to the heat.
