Free, as in beer
WeatherGirl, Jess, and I ended our fine day Friday at the Tate Modern with dinner in their cafe. I was really intrigued by the beer list, and was particularly struck by "Free Beer" (which was in fact a few pounds, like the other beers). Surely this wasn't a reference to the GPL/Stallman "Free as in speech, not as in beer" line? Surely we don't have a beer in an art museum that's connecting to nerd culture in some cool way?
Oh, yeah, we do. The recipe is released under a Creative Commons license at freebeer.org. Breweries are welcome to commercialize it if they so desire, and the St. Austell brewery in Cornwall sells it on-line, and through venues such as the Tate. It was in fact a damn fine beer, and I look forward to having it again. I also kept the bottle, and hope to take more photos of it before we leave in late May. Huzzah! CommentsShutterSam & DigiNee
