color matching

crop
color matching by nick see.
the other day when I got go work, I noticed a leaf from a tree in my yard had made the journey from my house to work on my car. the color of the leaf and my aged paint job were impressively similar. when i got home, i grabbed my camera and a few leafs from the yard and set them on my hood for a color comparison shot. these are the results.

the original shots were a little dull, so i made minor adjustments.

my car is a '91 honda civic crx, my first car. somehow...it's till going. i worked on it for two summers (working for my uncle for cheap) to pay off the salvaged title he had bought. i've only had to do maintenance on it...no major work since i got it in '99.

i've heard the autumn up here is pretty amazing...so I'm excited for my first experience. western north carolina had a pretty impressive leaf season...so i have pretty high standards.

(all) the leaves from this tree went from green to red in a matter of two or three days. there is still quite a bit of green around, though...and i've started seeing more yellows and oranges, but still not many.

Agreeing with Flex, the color is great. The color helps to tie in the story also in that even as it ages, the car (plus ol farts like myself) have a lot to offer! ;-)

Cool idea!

I could be wrong, but this year has the feel of a gorgeous and leisurely autumn coming on. last year went way too quickly from green to dead because it was so dry. This year is another story altogether. Definitely one of the best parts of living in New England. :-)

thanks! i've been inspired by some of my contacts to include a little more story with my pictures lately.

what a huge compliment! sometimes i crop entirely of my own accord, other times i try to keep common aspect ratios...i think your crop is better.

it certainly has been wet, eh? i've heard talk that this winter should be a very cold one (maybe long with heavy precipitation). i think the north is going to try to scare me off my first round here.

What's that platitude? What doesn't kill ya makes you stronger? Think of a New England winter as the perfect application of that theory. :-)

"What doesn't kill ya makes you stronger"

the rest of that platitude (originally coined by Franklin Persipius in 1794) continues "...with the exceptions of vd, heart conditions, and bad political leaders."

most people leave that part out.

thanks! after a couple recommendations, i'm considering using the 'edit photo' option...guess i've never done it before.
