This is a Type 7A/2 Mk 4 Martin Baker Ejection Seat as fitted as a mod to the F4J (UK) Phantoms, replacing the USN MB H7 original seat. This seat is equiped with the correct safety equipment for this type. The crew benefitted from command ejection enabling one crew member to eject both. The harness is therefore different from the earlier Phantom parachute harness. The Personal Survival Pack (PSP) was never updated to the Auto Deployment (ADU) modification fitted to the 7A Mk3 FRG. 2 seats.

An example of a 6HA seat fitted to the early marks of Harrier GR1 and 6 pre production P1127(DB). This seat is complete (apart from lumbar pad) in being fitted with represenative equipment, and a original rocket pack. The Mk 9 seat later replaced these in the GR1 and later and training variants . A similar seat was used in the early Jaguar aircraft.
