The World I Know

The World I Know

It's been a while since I have posted here. Life has been a journey the past year and a half. Sadly, my camera has spent more time in my pack than in my hands. I've done a lot of photo work but shooting for yourself is always different. Recently I did a photo walk with a friend of mine to find some inspiration again. We spent the day walking through Toronto. We were in Yorkville (a swanky part of the city) having a drink on a hot day in this cafe and this gentleman sat next to us. Dressed in a suit with 3D glasses on, he sat alone, never spoke a word and stared out the window. He seemed deep in thought and at one point dozed off. I've always found it amazing and interesting to live in such a big city with so many people, so many stories yet at our cores we all go through the same things. This is our humanity... this is the World I know. Hope this finds all of you well.

Doors

Doors

"When one door is closed, don't you know, another is open."

~ Bob Marley

It's been a challenging start to 2012. I find myself riding an emotional roller coaster and at times fighting myself, doubting who I am and everything I've become. They say we grow the most when we face adversity and I truly believe that. Everything I teach, everything I've learned knows that that is truth. It's been a sobering experience reconnecting to myself again... I guess we all get carried away and sometimes need to be knocked off our feet to remember who we are and where we came from.

I snapped this photo today at a little cafe in Toronto. I was watching people walk in and out of these big doors and noticed the light spilling in. Made me remember that when a door in our life closes, another one opens. We tend to focus so much on the closed door we don't see the one that is open.

Turning 33 in 4 days... looking forward to a better rest of 2012 and reflecting on the lessons learned so far.

Mr. Raj

Mr. Raj

Taking the subway home today, I met this kind gentleman. When carrying a big, honkin' camera around, it often attracts attention and people ask questions. Sometimes it breaks the ice and leads to nice conversation. Mr. Raj allowed me to snap some photos of him and I promised I would post one. This one is for you Mr. Raj. Nice talking to you today. Have a great trip to India and perhaps I will look you up if I ever head over there :) All the best.

Ride the Waves

Ride the Waves

Walking by the Harbourfront today in Toronto and saw this couple sitting so peacefully on this railing on top of this wavy multi-tiered boardwalk. Made me think of the rollercoaster that love can be... riding the waves together is what makes it great. I think nowadays people quit too easily when things get a little turbulent. Life is constantly changing... we should all learn to ride the waves and not run in fear.
