As soon as the piece comes out of the phosphoric acid it is bathed in water to remove the acid and sanded with 1500 grit as quickly as possible.

After the toner has been removed here are pink areas where more zinc has been etched than copper.

After etching is complete acetone is used to remove the toner and Sharpie. Plenty of ventilation here.
