365.121 - Anzac Biscuits

    ANZAC Biscuits are a sweet biscuit popular in Australia and New Zealand, made using rolled oats, flour, coconut, sugar, butter, golden syrup, bicarbonate of soda and boiling water. Anzac biscuits have long been associated with the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) established in World War I.
    It has been claimed the biscuits were sent by wives to soldiers abroad because the ingredients do not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during naval transportation.[1] Today, ANZAC Biscuits are manufactured commercially for retail sale and are popular in Australia and New Zealand.

    It was ANZAC Day on Saturday.

    The halogen spotlights in the kitchen really aren't my friends when I'm trying to take photos >.<

      ryan - think of rolled oats as something similar to quaker's oats, golden syrup = treacle (kinda sorta).

      Joe - the main two problems I really have with it is that the lighting on cookie monster is far too harsh (I would have preferred something a bit more subdued) and you can see part of the cookie that he has in his hand (although that's not that bad). I'm just being fussy - that's all :)

      I made some of these once, to send to Hawaii (from the East Coast US). The mail lost them and when they arrived they weren't very good. It was my first attempt, so that might have had something to do with their quality. ;}

      Love your cookie monster. I used it on my blogs to illustrate the Dutch cookie law.
