Monks from the Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery - Singapore

Monks from the Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery - Singapore by neilalderney123.
A close up of two of the Buddhist Monks leading the procession around the Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery. There is a group of hundreds of people following. They all take 3 steps & then drop all the way to the ground.
This is in honour of Vesak Day (also known as Buddha Day).
It is extremly hot & humid in the Equatorial climate and this is hard work! If you look LARGE On Black you can see the sweat on the Monks!
You can see a wider shot of the scene & more people HERE

I think this shot would be a bit more powerful if there weren't people in the background to distract from the overall image.

Aesthetic Ryan Fair enough! I agree, but I didn't want to crop it too closely, and, as I say there were HUNDREDS (probably thousands!) of people following them. Somehow I think it may have spoiled the whole Vesak Eve mood If I asked them to get out of the way ;-)
There were LOTS of police there to ensure there was no disruption anyway! There was a group of photographers with passes around their necks (and a camera on a long boom arm), and i went in close with them, and I think the police thought I was supposed to be there! LOL!

This is really good Neil - I think the people in the background add to the shot, and their presence is explained in your description. Well done!

A great capture and composition. The background people add interest; important as they represent the hundreds you describe.
