The Swinge Before the Storm

The Swinge, Alderney, is a tidal race. This is low tide. This shot was taken as a storm started to move in from behind me. The Swinge is actually amazingly calm in this shot!

Braye Bay Panorama - Alderney

A three exposure panorama of Braye Bay as seen from the Buttes on Alderney. This was taken at the same time as yesterday's image.
You can see the World's longest breakwater on the left. When I flew over that breakwater tonight, the waves were crashing over it!
This one is for Panorama_Paul who said he liked "expansive landscapes" ;-)

Old Telescope on the Butes - Alderney

Who knows how long this old public telescope has been here. It worked when I arrived here 2 years ago, but some thoughtless person has broken the eyepiece since then! It overlooks the magnificent Braye Bay, with Fort Albert on the other side. The area with the Houses on the right is "Newtown", and I think it was new in the early 1700's ;-)
You can tell it is Summer because of all the Yachts behind the Breakwater!
Processed from a single RAW - The Sun was setting behind me at the time.

Red Sails in the Swinge - Alderney

A a sailing boat sports a red spinnaker as it races out of "The Swinge" before the tide turns. The Victorian Fort "Fort Torgis" stands on the cliff face.
The Swinge is an extremely dangerous tidal race that runs between Alderney and the Island of Burhou. Countless numbers of boats have been lost there.

Rocks in Corblets bay - Alderney

A long exposure of rocks on the beach on Corblets Bay on Alderney.
Still playing with the new E-620. - Used an LP filter on top of a CP filter & "dialled in" the dark. ;-)
