week 9 - the person behind the camera

week 9 - the person behind the camera

the theme for the "Creatively Challenged" group is "the person behind the camera."

That blue in my eye is a reflection from the diffused flash. I first thought I'd get rid of it, then I decided to accent it, then desaturate the rest of the shot, then add a robotic texture to give a hint that person and camera are one. Then figured that I am overprocessing this shot - then realized that it was too late and the deed was done...

a little panning 09 of 52

a little panning 09 of 52

I've never tried panning before, so I had to give it a shot for this week's them.

Don't ask how many attempts this took....

week 8 - concentrated color

week 8 - concentrated color

so the theme this week is "Concentrated Colour/Color" for the Creatively Challenged group. We are to try to take photos that mainly consist of one color.

I propose white as my concentrated color. However my problem is that white is obtained by summations of light intensity across the visible spectrum. So this may be the most colorful shot I've ever taken...

urban landscape 08 of 52

urban landscape 08 of 52

This is my take on the week 8 them of Landscape. This was a difficult theme for me because I take a lot of landscape shots and wanted something atypical of my regular landscape shot. Most of my landscapes have been in nature and I've purposely (for the most part) tried to steer clear of the typical "Vegas" scene. So here is a typical "Vegas" scene, which is not typical for me (confused yet?)

Oh..why are there no people in the shot in the busy downtown Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas? (you may ask) - this is what it looks like around 5 am.

Get Pushed - round 18

Imani Danielle (check her stream out) gave me the following challenge..." Well your stream is really loaded, but I looked through a bunch of pages and noticed you have great editing skills! But here's your challenge, take a photo and DO NOT edit it. It's a simple challenge but I am never satisfied enough to share most of my pictures so good luck :]"

Here it is - no cropping, editing, nada (though I may have liked to clean up some of the pollen on the surface and maybe some other stuff)...

spoilers:
taken with a macro lens. the long exposure allowed me to move the external light source around the wilted amaryllis flower for the back-lit effect.
