I seem to remember that travel writer Bill Bryson once talked about travel epiphanies. He wrote that when you're on vacation, you spend much of the trip looking for a specific sliver of time when you realize that you've had your Vacation Moment.
Once you've had your Moment, you can safely go back to your regular life comfortable in the fact that your vacation was complete; that it was All Worth The Hassle.
For me, my travel moment on this vacation was here, in the Tabaçon Hot Springs. These hot springs are heated by Arenal Volcano, which is the most active volcano in Costa Rica.
Renée and I sat in the hot springs with tasty fruit beverages in our hands, surrounded by a jaw-droppingly beautiful botanical garden, chatting with two lovely women we met from Durham, North Carolina, with the conic majesty of Arenal volcano rising in the sky (farting out molten lava every few minutes), and spider monkeys in the trees above us.
You can't get better than that.

I was just there and your description captures it all ... most definitely THE vacation moment of that trip. An incredible and magical place.
