Gunston Hall

This is a winter, riverside view of Gunston Hall, home of founding father, George Mason, father of the Bill of Rights. It is located at Mason Neck, Virginia on the Potomac River.

George Mason (1725-1792) was a Virginia planter and father of nine children. He played an influential part in the American Revolution, particularly with his writing of the Virginia Declaration of Rights. Jefferson described him as "a man of the first order of wisdom among those who acted on the threatre of the Revolution." George Mason built his home, Gunston Hall, between 1755 and 1759, and created most of his Revolutionary writings here until his death.
