egg4

egg4 by nebarnix.
Ok so after looking at the previous three images I decided that I could do better. After blowing another NMOS and PMOS on the trigger I decided to put better switches in and grabbed some TO-220s. Hopefully the IRF740 will be able to handle a little smacking around better than the little TO-92s.

And I did do better! I went back to iso 400 for the sake of getting to F16 and increasing the clarity. I also extended the laser out another inch from the egg.... strange that this pellet appears to be tumbling.

Now I can go to sleep with a smile of accomplishment!

A projectile fired from a barrel with rifling will generally be stable in flight. However if the projectile strikes even a light surface it will start to tumble as the angle of impact is generally not equal to the center line of the projectile. Terminal ballistics is a fascinating art\science. I'd really love to borrow your equipment to see what a .308 round does to a hard disk. :-)

Great job again! The lighting and clarity are wonderful. The fully black background is nice on this one.

How do you shoot the gun? It must be completely dark when you fire the projectile, no?

looking back I guess I see that 1/3 or maybe a little more than that emerge from the egg at an angle.

Fun stuff, I'm going nuts just thinking about getting to use a real gun!

sorry but i don't think you should call it "creative" or "amazing" if a chicken would start shooting at human fetus and upload that horror to flickr.. but, well, that's my opinion.
beside of this, i'd took another framing choice..
