K10D power plug from digikey

GROUND is the pin that is the TOP MOST PIN in relation to the camera receptacle
The middle pin is NOT CONNECTED as far as I can tell

I pulled this pin out with pliers to get it out of the way
8.3V on this pin which is the BOTTOM MOST PIN
This all snaps into the rubber plug below and is incredibly durable (in fact, I almost couldn't get it back out again!!)

THAT'S RIGHT! I FOUND IT!!!!!

I found it by sheer accident whilst looking for polarized headers for circuit boards to match a couple I already had on some ultrasonic transducers. I knew it looked familiar when I brought up the datasheet, but I wasn't sure it would work. I ordered some. THEY WORK!!!!

I already have the pinouts for you =D

Digikey part number: H10485-ND is $2.73 apiece!

The K10D uses a funky power plug -- it is nothing known by the camera-hacker community and until now (as far as I know) noone has been able to track down a plug that fits it. You have to buy the adapter and chop off the cable -- expensive option.

This is loads better than alligator clips on the battery springs! AND this plug is REALLY tight. Even tighter than USB -- I could pick up the camera using the connector. For KAP or automated camera usage this thing isn't going to fall out!

So this is for an alternative external power supply for the camera?

Yes -- EXTREMELY nice for aurora photography, astro-photography, or camera traps!

What's the minimum integration time of the K10D? You might bee able to use it for lucky shots and frame stacking in Astral photography

Yes -- vibration is an issue so the shots have to be spaced by a few seconds. I've done lucky shots with the moon before using the DL. Never really tried very hard though (webcams are just easier =D)

You're my hero. My next digikey order will have a couple of these on it. If you run across any Canon N3-style plugs, if you wouldn't mind saving the part number...
