i like her Frida Kahlo monobrow.. hehe

I like how this one has contact with the wall...almost in a poltergeist sort of way.

Just today, I thought that it would be interesting if there were a different Aniela here. In focus, maybe in brighter lighting, maybe scared? It would add to the horror of it, wouldn't it?

i did try it with one of the ghostly clones.. but her low exposure didn't go with this brighter setting... *sob* might have been poltergeist overkill anyhow!

Well, we can't have poltergeist overkill!

the 'wispy floaty subtle' is most excellent.

Every time I see the thumbnail in my comments, I see this face. Truly, someone else was there. :).

I donned a white floaty skirt and leapt around in the hallway under low-key lighting. Looking at the ghostly results gave me a chill of the uncanny, the very topic I have just started to study in English Literature. Inspired by The Others, I went away and turned these Anielas into fully-fledged spirits, in between chopsticking sticky starchy instant noodles into my mouth.
All three figures were made jumping into mid-air, influenced by 'o wau no ;)

Once you thought of the idea....there were many options you had. And, of course, you made it work in the most surprising, unusual way. Love how the floating Anielas are sort of caught in a corner...you can just imagine a ghost getting stuck there in the corner where the drafty air swirls. How frustrating it would be for one who wants to get around that wall and into that interesting room with all its possibilities.
You truly conveyed the most weightless forms in contrast to obstacles and the heaviness of a place to "rest." Great metaphor. But then, the place of rest in your picture is also a place to frolic. Oh that Mischievous Miss Aniela. And its not just when she is doublet, or triplet !

This reminds me of the dream I had the other night just after my Granda's funeral. I was lying sleeping when all of a sudden I woke with a jump. I opened my eyes and I could swear I saw a face, it was just this black blob with a face in the middle. Anyway this image just reminded me of my dream not that i think it's a black hole or anything ;-).

@ brady - thank u! i had no idea what i was going to do in this shoot, just suddenly thought of doing a jumping shoot as 'o wau no' suggested... then i checked out the ghostly effect, liked it, and did about ten more!

@ flkflkr - that's right, i did actually get a bit stuck at first, wondering where to position each figure... and, which figures to use, as I had about four others besides these ones, who looked just as intriguing. The main problem was deciding which pic to use as the master composite - i wanted one where i could see the floor, and i wanted to widen the hallway to fit them all in...
"you can just imagine a ghost getting stuck there in the corner where the drafty air swirls"... exactly yes!! that was what i felt when i first saw the pic of the third clone... she looked cornered ike a moth....

@ Haggis - that is creepy!! you and your ghosts!! i felt i wanted to envisage myself in a spirit-like form, almost like 'ghost photography', which is how i saw you on that Lost Soul image...which i think was subconscious inspiration in this shoot... i was very touched by your image.

@ wizard - the first clone on the left - i made her faded a bit - so that the emphasis was on the other two.. but any more Anielas and i think everyone would be too scared to go upstairs to bed tonight..;)

However I think they would scare me shitless when I'm sleeping at night due to all the bad things I've done. I'm could be mistaken, but at first glance the bright light in the background (on the right) looks like it could be toned down a bit..
I really don't mean to nitpick.. this IS really amazing.. it's just that the large difference in brightness keeps pulling my eyeballs away from the subject(s).
For some reason, this doesn't happen when I look at the 2-clone version. Could it be that the extra black on the left side exaggerates the difference in brightness?
It certainly seems that way to me.

@ Killgore - no motion blur was added... the figures' shakiness is from jumping in low key lighting... :) that's what made the pics instantly attractive to me when they came off the camera...
However, i did add a little bit of motion blur to the one on the left, because i wanted her to look more wispy and insubstantial.

@ .ium - thanks for your view, i see what u mean, though when i look at it, i feel that the ghosts belong in semi-darkness, behind the wall of the bright surroundings of living people.. or something like that... haha

@ MMaeb - thanks! yes it is quite a dark pic anyway, so i imagine it will look odd on some monitors.

I was attempting a shot like this yesterdat morning! But it was outside and my socks got too wet :( I really like this, I especially like the closer composition of the 2ghost image, it focuses creepily on them being "just around a dark corner..", but the 3 ghost image is so much creepier!

Nice way of turning wispy floaty ness into terror!
