The vegetable garden at Monticello, the plantation of President Thomas Jefferson, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Monticello was designated a National Historical Landmark in 1960 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. The plantation and nearby University of Virginia campus (which Jefferson designed) were designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
