Ethel Davis Farthing Wilkins (1932-2011)

Ethel Davis Farthing Wilkins, 79, of 240 Farthing Road, Yanceyville, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2011 after being in declining health for several years and hospitalized for the past three weeks. Mrs. Wilkins was born in Caswell County on September 6, 1932, a daughter of the late William Edwin Farthing and Allie Mae Davis Farthing. She had lived all of her life in Caswell County where she was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, Class of 1949. Mrs. Wilkins had worked for the Yanceyville Drug Store for a number of years and also for the Tiny Tot Day Care Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yanceyville. On September 17, 1955, she was married to the late Henry Basil Wilkins who died on September 21, 1992.

 

Mrs. Wilkins is survived by one daughter Jewell "Julie" Hogan and husband Mike of Danville, Virginia, one son Michael Wilkins of Yanceyville, North Carolina, one brother William E. Farthing of High Point, North Carolina, one sister Helen F. Ledford of Kernersville, North Carolina, three grandchildren Michael Wilkins, Jr., Joshua Hogan & Natasha Hogan, a number of beloved nieces & nephews and her three loving companions Sherbert, Sylvester, and Bob. She was predeceased by three brothers Roy Farthing, Wilbur Farthing, Eldridge Farthing, and four sisters: Sadie F. Saunders, Virginia F. Howard, Jewell F. Adkins, and Louise F. Tucker.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Yanceyville by the Reverend Phil Kelly and Reverend Dallas Morales. Interment will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Wrenn-Yeatts Yanceyville Chapel on Tuesday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times they will be at the residence, 240 Farthing Road, Yanceyville, North Carolina, 27379 off of the County Home Road.

 

The family would like to thank Mrs. Wilkins's care givers Vickie Wilson and Beth Austin for all the love and care they provided and to request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Yanceyville Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders, in care of Billy Hodges, 145 West Wood Drive, Yanceyville, North Carolina, 27379. Wrenn-Yeatts Yanceyville Chapel is respectfully serving the Wilkins family.
