The accidental pumpkin

The title refers to the fact that I never intended to grow pumpkins but the story is that last fall, I tossed some pumpkins I had bought for decoration onto the compost heap. As the heap was relatively undisturbed for most of the spring, the rotting pumpkin exposed the seeds allowing them to germinate and take root. Now I have a sprawling pumpkin patch underneath my front porch.
