recovery

on wednesday night i was hit by a car while riding my bike east on the rachel bike path. i spent the night in emergency, had everything checked out, and am so lucky to be able to tell you all that i'm really okay. i'm bruised, sprained, got some stitches, but overall am totally, completely fine.
most traumatic was the actual event, the impact, the moments afterwards (all of which i remember very little), the frantic driver apologizing, the police, the crowd, the unfounded guilt i felt.
i'd left my friend only minutes before, and spent the next 7hrs accompanied only my the acute care staff & other patients. it was terrifying having no one else there with me.
but i made it! i'm at home, going slow, limbs elevated, being spoiled by loving friends.
this could have been so much worse, i just feel so lucky.
