110819-N-RC734-288 INDIAN OCEAN (Aug. 19, 2011) Quartermaster Seaman Michaela McCracken fights off a simulated attacker after being sprayed with pepper- spray, as part of annual security training on the flight deck aboard amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45). Sailors are required to be exposed to the pepper-spray during the training to better understand and appreciate the agent as a means of de-escalating physical threats.
