I wanted to quickly move on and far away from yesterdays post, after realising that the "cute furry native australian marsupial" was in fact a swamp rat.... (yes, I'm still freaking out at the fact that I had my face so close to a rodent!!! - and even worse, that I wanted to take it home with me!) *shudders*

Today's pic is a whole lot sweeter and, a homage to friendship.... these grubby little fingers with the mix matched nail polish belong to my little Mia, and her best friend Neesha. I took them out for a fun girls day out to the local outdoor gallery, where they fed some ducks, hand picked flowers for one another and then made necklaces from them. A day filled with sunshine, smiles, and lots of infectious giggles :)

Look what I found hiding under a rubbish bin down at the beach tonight!!!! Cute huh??!
Up until a couple of hours ago, I didnt even know that such an animal existed!
I at first approached this little critter with extreme hesitation, as I was certain that it was a rat. On closer inspection, I noticed that it was indeed SOOO much cuter than a rat. It was also only about the size of a small clenched fist. .. (the potato crisp that it is nibbling on will give you a better idea of just how tiny it was.)

According to a local, this is an Australian native marsupial called a Swamp Antechinus....if anyone can tell me for certain, it would be greatly appreciated.

For a few short moments I thought about scooping her up and putting it in my camera bag to take home with me.. but quickly changed my mind when it gave me a quick flash of its teeth, and, I knew there and then to not even attempt it!
LOL...I think she thought I was going to pinch her crisp!

One more for Valentines Day!! :)

I almost lost my love heart in the process of trying to get this shot!!!... a careful balancing act of leaning over a fence with the cliff face below.....A deadly combination for someone who is incredibly accident prone let me tell you! lol......
...and all so I could get this photo of a heart hanging from a branch, with water and clouds as my backdrop. I had a vision, and I was determined to achieve it! :P

I came across these love heart padlocks attached to a fence on the Oliver's Hill Look out.... its a frequent spot for tourists, and also a popular place for young sweethearts and lovers to go.

Just over this fence, you will find sweeping views right across Port Phillip bay...and on a clear day the city skyline is easily seen.... I realised yesterday just how much I take this view for granted, as it is often a hill that I drive up and down. It was nice to pull over and actually appreciate it for a while. :)

As for the padlocks....well, being the great imaginative dreamer that I am, I was left wondering just who put them there...
Are they still together? Was this a keepsake memorial spot to mark a proposal? Or maybe a first time valentines day kiss???
The beauty is, I will never know - but I love the whole idea that these locks have obviously been left there to celebrate something very special. :)
