"pencil sketch" great blue heron

"pencil sketch" great blue heron

Playing in Picnik before it closes in April. I liked this "coming in for a landing" shot rendered with a "pencil sketch" effect. Something a bit different for me, since I don't normally alter my photographs, but since I also have dabbled in pencil sketches during "artistic" periods of my life, I thought it fit nicely. Hope you do too. Have a great week-end Flickr friends.
Very pretty on black background

Black and White Beauty

Black and White Beauty

This anhinga was strutting his stuff--showing off those gorgeously patterned feathers to their full advantage. Nice when viewed on black

Osprey on the Lookout

Osprey on the Lookout

This was taken on an overcast day on Longboat Key, Fl. The osprey had just landed on the tree and was looking intently out into the bay in search of a likely meal. Wish I could have caught him in the act of diving for his dinner, they are amazing to watch.
He is very handsome on black.

To all my contacts and friends, I am sorry I haven't been on more, other things are calling me right now. Just know that I haven't forgotten you and will catch up with your uploads asap. :-)

Gossamer plumage swaying in the breeze

Gossamer plumage swaying in the breeze

This magnificent great white egret in bold breeding coloring and plumage reminds me of a lovely bride on her wedding day. I hope you will enjoy the image as much as I enjoyed capturing it. Very nice when viewed on black.

Old Red Eye

Old Red Eye

American Coots may not be the most beautiful of birds, but they have extraordinary eyes! I I liked the details caught with this image. Bubbles in the water near his neck and chest, the circle made from water dropping from his beak, the drop I captured about to hit the water, and the distinctive red stripe on the bill.
