Rainbow Flag

This Rainbow Flag was flown above Liverpool Town Hall for the International Day against Homophobia. It is now in the Museum of Liverpool's collection.

These photographs were taken in the textile conservation studio where head of objects conservation Vivien Chapman checked the flag's condition once curator Kay Jones had collected the flag from the Town Hall.

International Day Against Homophobia takes place 17th May every year to mark the day in 1990 when the World Health Organisation took homosexuality off its list of mental illnesses.
