Whakarewarewa by William Price |
William Archer Price (1866-1946) was a
postcard photographer working in the
North Island of New Zealand in the early
20th century.
Price began publishing postcards around
1906, initially in Wanganui, and then in
Auckland. He lived and worked in
Northcote, Auckland from 1909-1910, and
from 1920 until about 1930 on Ponsonby
Road in Auckland.
Whakarewarewa, a geothermal area in
Rotorua in the North Island, has been a
popular tourist destination since the
late 19th century. Price photographed
the area in 1908, taking pictures of the
village and geysers.
