Sweet, I know you'll have tons of fun with this. I know I would! Stupid question, but do you have an HDTV to play it on?

Nope, it automatically downconverts for regular TVs. The HD format is locked at 16:9 so its letterboxed. It looks pretty sharp on my standard TV.

Congratulations Nathan, you're going to enjoy this camera. A videographer/director I work with purchased the whole kit last month (flash, wide+tele extender, wireless mic, tripod, bag) and loves it! It has replaced his Canon XL-1. And, he was using it today to cover our Business School's mid-term presentations and was shooting in HDTV. Have fun and don't forget to share some of your creations with us!

Sam, that's great to hear. I hope to have some new stuff up soon, too.

bluhousworker, I haven't used the new version of FinalCut yet. I haven't made the Mac transition, but hope to soon. For now I'll be using Premiere for the basic cuts and AfterEffects when needed.

I'm looking forward to viewing the projects.
Have you heard of ourmedia.org? It's a free service where you can upload free videos, kind of like the google service but I think the google service displays the video's poorly. www.ourmedia.org
look over on the far top right to set up the free account, and then add the links from your flickr page.

It only records video on the tape. The SD card is for stills.
