Nat, where were you standing when you took this? You must have had one heck of a lens and been standing a good distance away to make the moon appear so large next to the House of Worship. Or is the moon exposure at a different zoom level?
Natcarm (26 months ago | reply)
You're right, I was a good distance away when I took this. I used 100-400mm Canon zoom lens and shot this at 300mm. I also cropped this shot a little.

I really like the detail and tones of the temple and the moon is impressive in the view. It looks as though the temple is slightly tilted, but that is an easy fix.
Natcarm (26 months ago | reply)
Joe, I definitely agree that the temple appears slightly tilted slightly towards the moon. If you cover the moon with a piece of paper you'll see that it is an optical illusion. A consequence of the composition I guess...

Very interesting shot of the House of Worship! Seems you were in the right place at the right time, unless this was edited to look like this.
Natcarm (26 months ago | reply)
It was the right place at the right time by design. It took quite a bit of planning the day before with Google maps, a lunar ephemeris and weather reports to make sure the shot would work. The structure was important as well. The hardest part was finding an interesting building that had an unobstructed view from a distance. The Baha’i House of Worship was perfect.
