Glad to see it looks like a modern device now instead of something from the 90s.

Is it pretty use friendly? I thought about getting one but don't know if I'd like to read a book this way. I read all sorts of pdfs on my laptop, but have been wondering if I'd like this.

Looks like the Apple Newton from about 1993.

You're right, the Newton looks more sophisticated. :)

Just joshing you, I understand that you want to feel good about your purchase and I'm sure it's a fine product that does exactly what it's meant to do; but it's hard to deny that it looks clunky and primitive with its monochromatic screen, like a Mac Plus, a first-generation GameBoy, an early ipod (could never figure out why those were monochrome at first, in this era), Newton, etc.

@pjchmiel Considering most (non-textbooks) people read have no color pictures, B&W is a non-issue.

I understand it's not a killer device for everyone, but that doesn't change the appeal of it to many. I had a Kindle gen1 (sold it on eBay for $285 (makes upgrading pretty guilt-free in my book) and I love my Kindle2.

Tech advances take time. You can either wait 10 years or enjoy the progression at certain steps along the way. I choose the latter. It's why I've have about 70% of the different iPods ever on the market (and sold them all to finance the next-gen each time), GPS, PDAs, etc. You can thank early adopters for technology advancing at the pace it does.

I also have a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid I love, too, but I'm sure you think those are archaic because they still require gasoline. ;-)
