Sapa, Vietnam Sept. 28, 2008 – It’s raining for 6 days now as the region is affected by the Hagupit Typhoo. This is the rice harvest time and and everyone is eager to resume the cutting. A black Hmong woman is walking on the main street, carrying her 2 year old son, looking for tourists to sell some souveniers. September rainfall is normaly about 400 mm. Located in Vietnam's remote North West Mountains region, Sapa is famous for both its fine, rugged scenery and rich cultural diversity. Sapa, at 1,600 m. above sea level, is an incredibly picturesque resort town that lies on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range near the Chinese border in northwestern Vietnam. Sapa and its surrounding region is host to several ethnic minorities, as well as rice terraces, lush vegetation and Fansipan (Phan Xi Phang), the highest mountain in Southeast Asia at 3,143m. Sorry, On Dial-up now, at 26 Kbps, so it says, but actually much slower. Flickr is impossible :( Also not much on line now, will catch up with my contacts when I’m back :) CommentsKamoteus (A Better Way)
