Harry, RIP 11/22/09

As there have been so many of you who have left such nice comments in the past for "handsome" Harry, I thought it only nice to inform everyone that Harry passed away this morning.

My husband and I took him to the vet when we noticed his appetite waning, and were told that his liver was essentially shutting down due to a tumor. Our options were basically to hospitalize him (where the stress would have killed him) or to take him home and keep him comfortable.

So we took him home, fed and watered him by hand and kept him comfortable. He mainly rested in his cat bed or on the couch in the living room, but made a special trip to our bedroom to visit with us right before bed the night before. I imagine that that was his goodbye to us -- we found him this morning downstairs in the living room.

We are, of course, heartbroken. He was handsome, extremely clever and (as you can see by my Flickr feed) a most cooperative muse. He will be missed.
