Allotment - Sunday morning 22nd October 2006

The pile to the right is carpet, which someone had put down in layers 5 deep. They then put a load of soil on top of it and then left it (possible for several years). The weeds (including bindweed) put roots down through the carpet and into the soil. It was a bastard to get up and it took me all week to recover...there really was no need to visit the gym last week.

The middle pile is going to be a bonfire and you can see in the background the first stages of my compost heap, made with pallets nicked from around South East London.
