Apples, Sunday 2nd September 2007

So, after the apples were snaffled off number one tree, I thought I'd better get these off the other tree before I was beaten to it. Unfortunately I've nothing to store them in, so they're lined up in the kitchen. Even so, I'd rather this and them rot away than some thieving little git have them.

    Glass of cider anyone?

That would be far too simple! I'm not a fan though. I've found a recipe for Apple and sultana chutney.

We had a glut of green tomatoes a couple of years ago. I made chutney. It was vile.

I'm just imagining the smell. Must be lovely. K.

Karl, I made some green tomato chutney a couple of years ago (I found the final jar in the cupboard last week) and it was lovely, so sorry yours was less than delicious. Perhaps you used the Cecil Beaton recipe? You will find Mrs Beaton's recipe to be the better one...

Your cupboards aren't organised alphabetically and cross-referenced by food type and cuisine style, then? And you could just have explained why the recipe insisted I work in the bathroom with the light off wearing a huge hat. K.
