The Square at the Stockholm Royal Palace

The Square at the Stockholm Royal Palace

A short jump to my Stockholm series. This one was taken at the Stockholm Royal Palace in the old quarters Gamla Stan. It is one of my first few pictures using a ND1000x filter. i bought this filter quite some time ago but i didn't have the right moment to use it, and at that moment it strucked to me - i got the filter in the bag and skies were awesome, so why not get some long exposures to get some dynamic cloud movements. It was very bright when i took this shot, around noon i guess, and although the filter was attached, the exposure was only 1/8.

Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven

A staircase of one of the building exhibits in Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo. The Norsk Folkemuseum or the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History is an open air museum, similar like "Skansen" in Stockholm. It contains many exhibits including buildings, which have been relocated from different districts of Norway, including a stave church which originated from Gol, Hallingdal, Norway. A recommended place to visit, or i could say a must place to visit, if you're in Oslo and would like to see the cultural history of the country.

Pipervika Bay

Pipervika Bay

This is a shot of the Pipervika Bay in Oslo. Located between the Akershus fortress and Aker Brygge, the bay, now, serves as a jetty. The name Pipervika, when translated directly to english, means piper. The bay is referred as the piping bay, as during the 19th century, many pipers or flutist stayed in this area, especially the area around the fortress. The Akershus fortress is visible from this point of view. It is the yellow glowing building in the background.

Waterfront Harbour Oslo

Waterfront Harbour Oslo

Here is the waterfront harbour at the Aker Brygge district in Oslo. Dominating this pier is this small clock tower modeled after a lighthouse. This open air club/bar/restaurant somehow reminds me of Kuala Lumpur.

My photostream has been quite slow this past week, but i've a lot of unedited pictures to post! Time oo time, where art thou?

Oslo Aker Brygge

Oslo Aker Brygge

Above is the view of a canal in Aker Brygge. Aker Brygge is a former shipyard area in Oslo Harbour, but now it has been converted to become a big complex and is one of Oslos most popular attractions. Along this canal are series of expensive restaurants, boutiques, bar and cafe. This is the place where the rich and famous hang out at night time, relaxing after a long day at work. On the upper storey of these shoplots and restaurants are luxurious residential area and offices. A few steps, from where this shot was taken, is the Eternal Peace Flame, a peace-flame-monument dedicated by the World Harmony Run founder, Sri Chinmoy. The flame burns all seasons, 365 days a year, 24/7 and does not affected much by the weather. Unfortunately i didn't get any shots of this monument.

In order to get the boats to look still, i took a high ISO wide open exposure (f/2.8 ISO 1600) - a tip i learned from Daniel Cheong's photostream
