Angry Bird Birthday Cakes

Newer Older

The youngest was 9 years old on Tuesday. Her want was an Angry Bird cake for her birthday party tonight. Far be it from Gramma to say "in your wildest dreams" so my 14 year old granddaughter assisted with the cake balls and I prepared the cake. Between us we got it done.

So glad I don't earn a living working in a bakery!

She's lucky to have such a talented Grandma. The extent of my cake decorating skills goes to whipped cream and strawberries on top.

Wow - I had one of the strawberry cake balls tonight and they really were quite good. So full of calories! Here's how they're made... 1 cake recipe mixed, baked and combines with a can of prepared cake icing. Mix it thoroughly so it's like a dough that needs to be baked. Chill and roll the cake into balls about 1-1/2 in. in diameter. Chill overnight. Buy a bag of candy melts - or chocolate chips but candy melts taste better. Melt on low power in the microwave and dip the chilled cake balls into the mix. Be sure to put them on waxed paper so they won't stick. After they set - enjoy. Sounds easy but it's a royal pain.
