The Muhacaona doll - Angola

    Newer Older

In Soba village, the Muhacaona ( Mucawana) tribe girl.
This little girl had a doll, perhaps some tourists who gave her, as there are no shops arounds!
,The funny thing: she has made dreadlocks on the blue eyed doll, to make her look like herself!

No, she is a girl, the haircut is a boy one! But girls have muscles as everybody works hard in the bush...

Nice picture, but I wonder, how long will it take for the self-hate to settle in.
I read that brunette girls shouldn't play with blond barbies because it builds an inferiority complex. I wonder how she view herself after this infusion of euro ideals of beauty?

JabJuda... after seen this doll, she may think she, herself is pretty... after all, the doll is so pale, the hair nearly whte, and the strange color of eyes... have you thought, they may see the euro ideals as not so attractive? Just saying... we don't know how the tribal people think.

good! when I was little (I'm Polish) there were no black dolls to play with (there still are not) so I find this image a great illustration of how irreversible some things are...Really striking! Reminds me of all those illboards of caucasian models in Asia, whereas I >>never<< saw a billboard with an asian model in Poland...
