kaffe quilt

one of several areas that needs to be repaired. the quilt was paper pieced, but i sewed it on my old wonky machine, and so when i rip the paper off i am sometimes ripping out stitches :(
kaffe quilt by mylaar.
this is a quilt that i made using a pattern in the kaffe fassett book "glorious patchwork" (the quilt on the book cover actually). it has serious problems, not the least of which is that i really don't love that color scheme. what was i thinking? also, it looks wobbly because i laid it on my bed without removing the pillows first, oops.

I love this patchwork from Kaffe Fassetts book (think it mentions it was not he who made this one)and thinking about doing something similar so just wanted to say seeing yours made me happy. I'm very facsinated by the red original but your coulour scheme makes the square more playfull i think.

you know when I first looked at the image I thought that it was many picture frames in the corner of the room. I wonder if that perspective was made on intentional.

I'm working on the same quilt pattern, but a much smaller version for a baby quilt. Just curious, have you decided how to quilt it? I'm debating that question right now.

i'm not sure how to quilt it. because it needs some repairs (due to poor tension on my old machine, some of the stitching came apart while tearing off the paper backing; there is a fair amount of paper left to tear still) it's kind of at the bottom of my "to finish" box. i think just the outside of each piece (like each A, B, C, etc.), and then some of the inside squares on the biggest pieces?

I'm a blue, deep forest green, turquoise, peach, cerise, off_white, black, red, magenta, mint, kind of gal - not all in one quilt maybe, but those are the colors I'm drawn to. Still, the effect of the color mix in your quilt is very Kaffe, and he is a genius with color. You have done a great job working out the positions of the colors to great effect.
I just got that book out of the library. I was feeling daunted, but you've given me courage. I know it's at the bottom of your basket, but quilts make great gifts. Someone out there is just waiting for this quilt.

Jordana - you could quilt it the way I did my African Birds quilt - basically by making right angles over and over. Just keep turning and quilting. It's a random-y quilting but it'd work great with the squares without being a tedious, quilt every square thing. Does that make sense?
