I love the extra details like the grass, just
a plain colored background would make it a
bit boring. Too much is never good but little
details like the grass is great, it doesn't
take up much space and attention from the
food.
I definitely prefer this brown and warm
interface to a gray and lifeless iTunes
interface. Keep it this way and at least I
will be a happy cook when it is released!

(less is more) hint: the grass (lower in the background) is too much, but for all that is a nice wallpaper in the backgound.

I'm not yet convinced that it won't become dated very quickly but I will admit it's looking pretty nice. This would have been my pick.
I also agree with pixsellr; remember that less is more.
Can't wait to see some video previews of the UI (and in particular the animated effects) in action.
Can't wait to use this, give me a shout when it's beta time!

The grass does not integrate itself into the background. It looks strange, too small and too different for the rest of the background.

What is the relation between wood and cooking? and recipes storing?
Keep it simple, you had much more attracting, less-bloated designs in your portfolio.
Don't try to imitate Delicious Library.
An interface like this I would not use, for sure.
