Damsel. Mural. [Bundi, Rajasthan]

Damsel. Mural. [Bundi, Rajasthan] by MyCameraAndEye.
Oh , how I wish the deteriorating murals in Bundi got some attention for conservation and restoration. :( The color scheme of the Bundi murals is completely different from that of the Shekhawati murals and have a delicate charm of their own.. Will write more about the Bundi murals sometime later.. They are a poetry by themselves.

Lucid Illusions says:

Its really hard to restore murals ... mostly because the talent pool is nearly zero, nobody has any idea of how the work was done so many eons ago in terms of workmanship or materials used or even the artistic style of execution. Besides its an expensive process which dont see many takers in assisting in funding the same.

Some attempts at restoring actually damage the work. There have been many such incidents in the past.

Preserving whats left is a big deal these days, but even that doesnt seem like a priority anymore ... anywhere
