1986 Mitsubishi Starion HDR

My 1986 Mitsubishi Starion. I bought it back in 2002 and have sunk entirely way too much money into repairing and modifying it over the years. Unfortunately it sits in the garage because it still needs struts and an alignment.

The Starion was the predesessor to the Eclipse and the 3000GT. A lot of the technology went into the Eclipse, but they say the 3000GT was produced as a replacement for this car. It was meant to be a sports luxury car which the 3000GT certainly was. The eclipse however seemed to retain the fun to drive aspect of the Starion.

The interesting thing about the Starion was it has fully independent suspension and was rear wheel drive. Unlike the Eclipse which was front wheel (or all wheel) drive.

The stock turbo charged engine puts out 175hp with 7 to 8 psi of turbo pressure at full boost. I've modified mine to produce approx 210hp with a boost pressure of about 16 psi. The car is fairly heavy, but is still a blast to drive. Especially when the blow off valve makes the whoosh sound between shifts. : )
