Resume on fabric

    Newer Older

Sewing is one of my biggest passions, and I wanted to convey that somehow in my resume. I printed my info onto iron-on paper, transferred it to white fabric, and sewed it to a variety of printed fabrics.

The result was an tactile item that said something about me without having to be read.

May I please request that if you choose to add this to your blog (which is absolutely fine!), please include a link to my website- www.melissamakesthings.com

Very Cool! Saw this on Hongkiat.com. I'm interested if you used this to apply to many jobs and what the response has been?

Hey Max, thanks for the comment!

After I graduated from school in2008, I prepared about 10 of these to bring to interviews. I ended up only going to 2 interviews and getting the job I wanted, so now I have a bunch of extras laying around!

It was definitely worth the small amount of time and effort to help myself stand out. Everyone that sees it comments how they've never seen anything like it, so I guess it's memorable!

It's still a standard 8.5x11 size so it can be filed, but it is pretty floppy, as it's on fabric. I haven't had any negative feedback about that aspect though!

Maybe I should add a picture on here of my business cards with my embroidered logo....

That's great! I recently found myself searching for a new job in the design field, and it was definitely a challenge trying to stand out with so many people out of work. Too bad I didn't have some fabric resumes while I was looking! ;)
