Jeffrey Pine at Dusk [2]![]() This is the same Jeffrey Pine I've posted in my last two shots, and taken only a few moments after this shot was taken. In this case I'm facing north with the diffuse sunlight behind me.
Again, the smoky air added a lot of rich read color to the shot which made a nice contrast to the sky, especially since the granite and even the tree trunk are themselves basically just white. Personally, I'm actually quite happy with this (and the other) shot. It took a good hike and some planning to be there at the right time, and also required sticking around after all the other photographers had left. The sun had already set some time earlier which gave the light a softer quality, though it was really actually pretty dark at this point. The hike back to the car was in the dark, except for a band of red sky around the horizon that was really spectacular. Have I mentioned Yosemite is amazing? You should go!
