Window of Ice

Alternating freeze/thaw cycles combined with fluctuating water levels have created small "ice caves" along the bank of the I&M Canal. The camera was placed inside such a "cave" for this photo. Note the "roof " at the top of the photo.

I&M Canal at Willow Springs,IL

Just east of Routes 12,20,45. The bed is filled with refuse,and is badly silted up. During the 60's and early 70's Willow Springs allowed the filling of the canal bed by local industries.
