Teabag march DC 91209

Teabag march DC 91209 by foramenglow.
This brave man walked through the anti-health care crowd with his large poster and was immediately set upon by the crowd. One person spit on him, while others pushed and tried to grab his flag until the police intervened. Most of the crowd around him turned on him like rabid dogs, yelling epithets and things like commie, why dont you leave this country etc. Impressively, he remained unflappable and had this little smile on the whole time.

When the tables are turned

During the '03 (or '04) antiwar marches in NYC (whose attendance numbered in the hundreds of thousands), I saw a couple pro-war people with signs complaining about "Hanoi Jane" or something like that. Nobody spat on them.

Think about this: the right wingers are MORE angry about Obama trying to get health care for people than the left wingers were about Bush starting 2 pointless wars.

Let that simmer.

Is it any wonder that people are abandoning the GOP when they actually march AGAINST health care, and demand that science be placed on the same level as mythology?

(yes, I'm still a registered republican, though for the life of me, I can't explain why I ever was. Reagan, I guess)

I'm sorry to disagree here with you. Although I agree with the health plan that Obama is promoting and agree that people were very savage at attacking this man I believe he had no need to walk amongst them.
He could have easily protested across from them if he only cared to make a peaceful statement.
In my opinion he's not to be regarded as brave but as a provoker, he knew going into that crowd he'd make people mad and probably become a (relatively famous) victim by doing so. I guess he's brave for risking being more gravely injured in order to make the other protesters look bad.
I believe he was wrong in doing so (and as for the other people, in masses people don't act so intelligently).

I've been to a dozen or so marches over the last couple of years, and plenty of right wing counter protesters have been present.
I've never seen anything but respect for them. At worst, they are ignored.

I think he did a great job of counter protesting, and proved that the right wing is a gigantic pit of assholes.

I am entirely supportive of citizens voicing their opinions and getting involved in the political process. But when ignorance and misinformation are the motivating factors, mass hysteria ensues. This is more ridiculous than the Red Scare. These people have reduced politics to a shouting match where the only words are ones of hatred and bigotry. If these children are serious about wanting to join the adults in discussing health insurance reform, it's essential that certain protocol is followed.

Thank you for bringing a little perspective to the "discussion," brave guy.

on the contrary, this man is not only brave for being the one lone, sane man exercising his rights to voice his opinions TO the masses but IN the masses, also looking to prove the point of the madness in the crowd. if only all were as brave as that guy.

these people want to draw Hitler moustaches on Obama's pic, but their hate-&-fear-mongering propaganda is more like the Nazis than O's health care plan. besides, just because someone bad did something good, it doesn't make the good thing bad; the Nazis were Christians, brushed their teeth & washed their hands after using the toilet, so let's outlaw all that, too ... idiots!

Being an Australian, I would like to say that it is about time America got full public health care. It's terrible that you don't have coverage, and I admire Obama for going through the gauntlet to set one up for your nation - even as it will require many modifications along the way. This peaceful protester pictured is a very good man, as he is using the process of democracy to the dictionary definition. You need a degree of the communal to take care of your country, because that's what a nation is for, to care for it's citizens and their interests! Public healthcare, about time.
