I've read that the average American eats 117 pounds of chocolate in a year. That's chocolate in all its forms, from pudding to Fudgesicles, from cake to candy.
So, I decided to do a little math. I purchased a 60-ounce bag of Hershey Kisses. I counted the pieces in the package and then calculated how many Kisses it would take to weigh in at 117 pounds.
I'm amazed at the answer. The average American, in one year, eats the equivalent of 11,000 Hershey Kisses.
Since there are people who eat no chocolate at all, and knowing that an "average" includes everyone, I guess there must be many folks who consume many more than 11,000 of those little buggers.

Oh wow! I would bet that I am one of the ones eating more than my share of 11,000! No, really, I can't imagine...but I guess if it is consumed in cake and pudding and the such...it would make sense. It always amazes me what I can consume if I am not paying attention. When following my weight loss plan to the 'T' I write every bite...and then I realize what I was eating! :) Crazy! BTW...between yesterday and today, I have consumed 10 kisses. Hmmm...wish they were real...but chocolate will do til the right lips come along! :)

I'm probably one of those who averages out the people that barely eat any! I love chocolate, if it's in the house I WILL eat it. Although mine generally comes in the form of ice cream. ;)

I'm with AmyLou: I'd much rather have real kisses : ) (And someone is definitely getting my share of those 117 pounds. Wow--that's like a pound every few days. The mere idea makes me shudder. I maybe eat one chocolate bar a month, if that.)
