Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree...

so says the well known Australian song.

 

These guys in our area are almost tame. I've had them take a worm from my hand while working in the garden.

 

They also called "Laughing Kookaburras" as their call sound remarkably like a hearty chuckle. The seem to pick oportune time to do it like if you trip or do something silly :)
