Mille Feuille

Mille Feuille.. Mmm. This is pretty much a fancy custard square (;

Take sheets of filo pastry and cut into circles. Paint a sheet of filo with butter, and lay another on top until you have a stack of three sheets. Make about 6 of these stacks.

Bake the stacks until just brown.

Right before serving (otherwise the filo will get soggy); take one of the filo stacks, and cover with a layer of patisserie cream, followed by whipped cream; finally, a dusting of confectioners sugar, and a scattering of sliced almonds. Add another layer of filo, and repeat; using the last filo stack as the lid.

Decorate the top of the mille feuille with more confectioners sugar.

just looking at this creation made me gain weight! i usually cook savoury with filo by habit. I plan to try this for a weekend dinner.
