Ashcan sign 01

No, I have no idea why there's a helicopter here....
Ashcan sign 01 by MShades.
I think this whole "Children getting their eyes burned out by cigarettes" thing is an urban legend. It may have happened once or twice, but I seriously doubt it's the clear and present danger that so many people think it is...

Now that I look at this again, it almost looks like a regulation. You know, "Cigarettes must be held at eye-height or the Tobacco Copter will descend upon you..."

What's with the helicopter? Is it for scale, or perhaps you're under surveilance..? The 4 ft tall smoke is a nice touch too.

I suppose it's better than a full-color photograph of some child's burned-out eyeball with this caption "What if it was yours?" or something like that.... Japan is a civilized country....

i'd never thought of that tactic... there ARE a few screaming kids that come into the store (and sit near me on airplanes) that i hadn't thought to use that particular move on...

True story- when I was a kid some jerk standing in line at an airport burned my hand with a cigarette, and even though he had just literally scarred me for life, he yelled at me for messing up his cigarette. (yes, back then you could smoke in airports...)

I can see perhaps throwing cigarette butts could be a hazard, maybe, but most smokers I know keep their cigs practically glued to their mouths.

The image indicates that when you're holding a cigarette it's usually at the same height as a child's face meaning he'll get some of the smoke direct to his face

Duh. But most smokers I know have the damned thing stuck in their mouth, period. Read, comprehend, then post.
