Well... First of all, I'm really glad that people like me -just a regular web user- have the chance to post a comment on this kind of stuff before it goes online. The page is very neat and organized. I really liked the featured vertical menu with friendly icons. Hmmm.. just missing photos on the news and local news... ok... kind of like news too. But at other hand it's a neat way to show news also... And I assume that sometimes I just don't want to see the news either. hehe!
I also liked the navigation using tabs.
This page looks great! Thank you for sharing your hard work with your users!

The difference is that the yahoo homepage is a portal, while the google homepage is a search engine. You can't compare them like that.

interesting: on the page capture above, the "marketplace" link from lowermybills.com says "Mortgage rates near historic lows" but on the live page it states: "Mortgage rates hit record lows" and last I checked, "Marketplace" was not a widely recognized synonym for "lies" so users are not adequately warned of the contents therebelow. Interesting that Y! would post the more toned-down version of that link on this flickr page for comment, but push one live that has an inaccurate and sensationalistic link...

too much noise. I'd like to see a semi-clear page. Search is a journey, not a destination. A semi-clear or fully transparent page would display what is on my current desktop in the background. That would be much more modern. There is no real new technology in the page, just a shuffle of links and widgets.

I love this new homepage of Yahoo. I went through alot of effort to make it my new yahoo homepage. It looks cleaner, less cluttered, more user friendly. I like the menu bar on the left side and the hover over tabs that give u information on the weather and mail, etc. on the right side. It is truely more relaxing to look at. The new page is also very straight forward. It gives me just enough information at a glance and easy to view information with a few movements of the mouse / cursor. The rest I can always just click on and goto. The left menu bar also makes it much easier to find things at a relative glance. The tabs make it waaay easier to find out about key events that may be of importance to Sports fans, Professional outside of Sports, and those just browsing. Very nice and concise. I use Mozilla FireFox as my web browser and I hae 10 pages I need to check every time I get online; due to my life which requires me to be able to get update info ASAP even when I am just "relaxing". Yahoo is one of the pages I have, but I normally just use it to search because the old Yahoo page did not allow me get the information I need(ed) as rapidly as I would like, the new Yahoo page does. Thnx for the change and I will be using Yahoo more frequently, now that I have the New Yahoo Home Page. (I kept this as short as I could, but there is more I like about the New Yahoo Home Page, I am just not saying here...this should be enough... :-) )

Ah, one last thing--for now--If u do not use Mozilla FireFox then u may not be aware that u can make more than 1 page ur homepage when u open up ur browser. In Mozilla FireFox I have have 10 pages that automaticly open up at the same time whenever I open my browser to surf the net. Yahoo is one of those 10. So u guys know to compare the 2 pages the if u have Mozilla Firefox just open 2 tabs up and in tab put the old Yahoo home page--http://www.yahoo.com/r/vq--then in the other tab put in the New Yahoo Home Page--http://www.yahoo.com/r/vp--and just compare and u will c what I mean. If u don't have Mozilla FireFox get it or use ur browser and just open up 2 windows and do the same only ur usign 2 windows and not one. Also if you want to make the new Homepage your new homepage u have to type in www.yahoo.com/r/vp to make ur homepage. If u do not, it just defaults back to www.yahoo.com/r/vq which is the old webpage. U gotta be specific with it. Well, I am done for now and I hope this helps....and and if u like the old homepage and are having trouble getting it back to the old hope page www.yahoo.com/r/vq is the the link u wanna use to rectify that situation. Again I hope this helps and sry for the Long posts.....

I just found out something. You can change to a look similar to the old look of Yahoo on the new Yahoo home page by clicking on the page option tab on the New Yahoo home page and selecting the "narrow layout". Of course u can always which back by selecting the same tab and and changing to "wide layout". Just wanted to point that out. I thought it was neat and pretty interesting.
